California Real Estate Salesperson License

1. Be at least 18 years old to receive a California real estate license.

2. Complete 3 DRE-approved college-level courses:

   • Real Estate Principles

   • Real Estate Practice

   • One approved elective, such as Real Estate Finance, Property Management, Legal Aspects of Real Estate, or Real Estate Appraisal.

3. Apply to the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) for the salesperson exam. You can apply online through DRE's eLicensing system and submit proof of your completed courses.

4. Schedule and pass the California Salesperson Examination.  Ready to Pass Exam Here.

5. Complete fingerprinting/Live Scan for the required background review.

6. Submit your salesperson license application and required fees to DRE. You can also use DRE's combined Exam/License Application (RE 435) process.

7. Receive your California Real Estate Salesperson License.

8. Affiliate with a California-licensed real estate broker before performing activities requiring a real estate license.
